The Golden "Golden Arches"

McDonald's (MCD) is currently the second best performing stock in the Dow in 2011 with a gain of more than 27%.  The stock's run in recent years has been impressive to say the least.  And what's even more impressive is how much better it has done than many of its blue-chip brethren over an even longer time frame.

Below is a chart showing the performance of five of the biggest Dow stocks going all the way back to 1980.  As shown, Mcdonald's (MCD) has absolutely blown the four other companies (GE, DIS, IBM and XOM) out of the water with a gain of 8,640% (not total return).  The "Golden Arches" have sure been golden for shareholders.

I have bought many shares in MCD at the time it entered in stock market. The then rate of the share is very less as compared to today's value. I'm very much lucky to have those shares even now.
